Recently, the King of Bahrain issued a Royal Decree establishing the Islamic Charity Fund Affairs Committee. Per Al-Bilad Newspaper, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa issued Royal Decree No.18 of 2026 to formalize the founding of the committee, which will oversee the management of Bahrain’s endowment industry.

This initiative aligns with the royal leadership’s longstanding policy priorities of safeguarding Islamic holy sites, restructuring religious institutions to keep pace with contemporary development needs.

The newly-founded committee will centrally administer endowments from both Nilah and Jafaria sectors and ensure sustainable growth of endowment assets under statutory regulations. The institutional restructuring recruits high-caliber local professionals to elevate the management standard of charitable assets.

This institutional reform underscores philanthropy as a core driver for Bahrain’s comprehensive social and economic development. The new framework facilitates coordination between charity regulators and governmental bodies to streamline operational efficiency of endowment-related businesses.

The landmark appointment manifests the Kingdom’s commitment to regulating religious affairs, preserving Islamic cultural heritage and expanding endowment assets for public welfare for future generations.
