Dragon World Saudi Arabia  to Open Its Doors in the Capital Riyadh Next Month


The press conference of Dragon World Saudi Arabia  (“DWSA”) was successfully held in Riyadh on 20 August 2024, attended by Saudi business leaders, DWSA clients as well as Saudi media representatives. 


Dragons Holding announced the planned opening of its first branch in the capital Riyadh, in September 2024. The company’s CEO, Patrick Zheng, stated during the press conference that the company aims to attract a large number of Chinese businesses and major investors in the region to showcase Chinese products in the Saudi market. This step is considered the company’s first entry into the Saudi market and aims to establish a strategic partnership between Saudi Arabia and China in line with the vision of Saudi Arabia 2030.


Patrick Zheng praised the role of the Ministry of Investment in facilitating procedures for entering the Saudi market, noting that the company is working in cooperation with the Ministry to identify additional suitable locations in the Kingdom, as the company seeks to expand by opening two other projects.


As a landmark international cooperation project, the DWSA project will create a comprehensive commercial center integrating trade & investment, leisure & entertainment, cultural exchange & tourism as well as covering other key aspects of Saudi Chinese ties. With DWSA, economic cooperation and cultural exchanges between China and Saudi Arabia will be further developed and strengthened for the mutual benefit of both countries’ economies, businesses and people.

At the press conference, the senior representatives of the Dragons Holding introduced, in detail, the DWSA positioning, advantages, future development plans and DWSA’s significant contributions to Saudi Arabia.


According to Mr. Osama Al Khaja, Vice Chairman of the Dragons Holding, DWSA is the largest commercial platform for China-Saudi cooperation and has received the important support of the Chinese and Saudi government entities as well as businesses. While Dragons Holding has announced the current DWSA as the first phase, with planned developments of new Dragon World projects in other key Saudi cities including Jeddah and Dammam.  


Mr. Patrick Zheng indicated DWSA would handover all stores by the end of August with a planned Grand Opening Ceremony to be held at the end of September 2024.

Mr. Saeed Al Shomrani, vice president of Kinan Real Estate, the property owner company, congratulated the smooth progress of DWSA, confirming Kinan’s readiness to support this important project in cooperation with Dragons Holding towards the further expansion of DWSA in Saudi Arabia.


Following the addresses, a Q&A session was held, where media representatives raised the interests and concerns of Saudi customers especially concerning product categories and pricing.  Dragons Holding representatives provided reassuring feedback to all questions, confirming, as stated by Mr. Zheng, that compared to previous Chinamex projects such as the "Dragon Mart Dubai " and "Dragon City Bahrain", the DWSA product categories are more primarily supplied by medium-sized Chinese companies with improved pricing, quality and offering more recognized brands.


The Riyadh project is the company’s first project in Saudi Arabia, and more projects are planned in other cities of the Kingdom in the coming years.  Dragon World Saudi Arabia will provide distinctive services to support entrepreneurs and investors in the region by providing them with the best products and prices. It will also offer exclusive promotions for some products in cooperation with Chinese manufacturers, which will reflect positively on the price of products and their availability in the Saudi market. Moreover, the opening of Dragon World will lead to a significant increase in the volume of trade exchange between Saudi Arabia and China, especially in industrial products.  The project will include many services and facilities that help businessmen and industrialists in their commercial endeavours and will serve as a commercial and industrial destination through exhibitions and business meetings. 


The press conference was a successful mark signaling DWSA’s new development stage.   With the strong support from the Saudi Ministry of Investment and all stakeholders of this project, and the diligent efforts of DWSA team, the project will be an assured success and a model for partnerships, collaboration and strong cultural ties between China and Saudi Arabia.
