    Turkey has been at the forefront of geothermal energy exploration and development, especially in the western part of the country.

    As of 2021, Turkey is ranked #4 in the world, geothermal energy production has reached 1600 MWe (3%of total energy production) from 56 power plants. Turkey is still one of the most attractive country for geothermal energy with a potential estimated to be around 3500MWe.

    Several ORC plant suppliers such as Exergy, Ormat, Atlas Copco and Turboden are quite active in Turkey, and 75% of total parts and equipment necessary for power-plants are locally produced.
